Germany deported a convicted criminal to Syria on Tuesday for the first time since the start of a 14-year-long civil war there as the government in Berlin tries to show voters it is addressing their worries about migration.
For the first time since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011, the Federal Government has again deported a convicted criminal to the country. According to the Interior Ministry in Berlin, the man was handed over to the authorities in the Syrian capital Damascus in the morning.

A Syrian immigrant previously convicted of criminal offences in Germany was flown to Damascus and handed over to Syrian authorities on Tuesday morning, the ministry said.
Germany has deported a criminal Syrian. Federal police took the man on a scheduled flight to Damascus, as the "picture" reports. An Afghan also had to return to his country on Tuesday.
The individual had previously served a sentence in the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia for aggravated robbery, injury and extortion.
