Dylan O'Brien Lands Lead Role in Hulu's Mystery Comedy 'Lex'
O'Brien returns to television after Teen Wolf, and the pilot follows a former reality star caught in a murder and a global conspiracy.
Dylan O'Brien will star in Hulu's comedy pilot 'Lex', marking his potential return to series television, Variety reported. O'Brien, best known for MTV's 'Teen Wolf', will also serve as an executive producer on the project.
Since his six-season run on 'Teen Wolf', O'Brien has focused primarily on feature films, including leading the Maze Runner franchise. Recent credits include starring opposite Rachel McAdams in 'Send Help', appearing in 'Saturday Night' from Jason Reitman, and 'Ponyboi'.
The comedy follows Lex, a disgraced reality star who accidentally films a murder in a $20 Cameo video and finds himself in a global conspiracy. The show's logline states he must 'fight to not get killed' while exposing the truth.
Writer Sean Clements and comedy veteran Paul Simms are executive producing the pilot alongside O'Brien, with 20th Television serving as the studio. The project was first announced earlier this year and is currently in development.
'Lex' remains one of several pilot projects currently under consideration at Hulu. The streamer is also developing series including 'Young Americans' and 'Southern Bastards' as it expands its original scripted comedy lineup.
