NICARAGUA, JUL 28 – Baker, MLB's eighth-winningest manager with 2,183 wins, returns to lead Nicaragua after retiring and working as a special advisor, aiming to improve their 2023 World Baseball Classic finish.
- Nicaragua's national baseball team named former Cubs skipper Dusty Baker to manage in the next World Baseball Classic, Baker said, "I considered managing in the WBC back then, but I just couldn’t leave my team."
- Baker accepted the role after consulting with his wife Melissa and son Darren, following contact in December by George Santiago and Marvin Bernard.
