The U.S. President Donald Trump's government warned this morning that it would be "insense" if Canada thought it could win a trade war with the U.S., and predicted a "devast" impact on its northern neighbor. Washington-Ottawa negotiations failed late Friday, leading to the entry into force of new US tariffs of 50 percent on Canadian products valued at about $20 billion, 5.5 percent of Canada's total exports to its neighbor.
