The City of Dryden is appealing to Canada’s Major Projects Office not to designate the proposed deep geological repository (DGR) for nuclear waste as a project of national interest. The $26-billion project is being led by the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO). If approved, it could see Canada’s nuclear waste buried hundreds of metres underground near Ignace and Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation in northwestern Ontario.
