JONAVA DISTRICT, LITHUANIA, AUG 1 – The Gerbera drone was found after a nearly five-day search following its entry from Belarus, marking the second such incident this month, officials said.
- On August 1, 2025, Lithuanian authorities found a drone at the Gaižiknai training ground in central Lithuania after it entered from Belarus.
- The discovery followed a search prompted by local residents reporting noise on July 28, when Lithuanian forces first detected the drone entering their airspace.
- Officials confirmed the drone resembles a Russian-made Gerbera model designed to mimic the Iranian Shahed drone and deceive air defenses.
- Defense Minister Dovilė Šakalienė announced the drone's recovery, while acting LSDP chairman Mindaugas Sinkevičius described the event as a provocation.
- The military will check the drone for any danger and follow procedures used for a similar Gerbera drone that crashed near the border in early July.
