- Five passengers died and 47 others were hospitalized from the 54 people onboard. Victims included Shankar Kumar Jha, Pinki Changrani, Jian Mingli, Zhang Xiaolan, and Xie Hongzhuo.
- During his sentencing, Shao apologized to families, stating, "From the bottom of my heart, I deeply apologize to the families." Passengers Zakir Hossain and Mohammed Rahman filed lawsuits against Shao and M&Y Tour Inc. after he pleaded guilty to five counts of criminally negligent homicide.
- Investigators found eight passengers reported the driver failed to conduct a pre-trip safety briefing. Police found no evidence Shao was impaired or that the bus suffered mechanical failure, though manslaughter charges were later dropped.
