Bagnaia Takes Czech Motogp Pole as Marquez Crashes
BRNO-CITY DISTRICT, SOUTH MORAVIAN REGION, JUL 19 – Bagnaia overcame a poor start and crashes by Marc Marquez and Johann Zarco to claim his first pole of the season with a new lap record, officials said.
- On Saturday, Francesco Bagnaia claimed his first pole position of the season at the Czech Republic motorcycle Grand Prix, edging out Marc Marquez.
- Ducati’s wrong call in Friday’s wet practice dropped Bagnaia into Q1, leaving him 13th, after which he struggled to improve his position on the grid.
- In Q2’s second half, Bagnaia set a new lap record of 1m52.303s to take provisional pole with under five minutes remaining.
- The Spaniard went off at the penultimate corner, resigning him to second on the grid.
- Factory Ducati locked out the front row, with Fabio Quartararo completing the front row for Yamaha.
