Dorchester County 911 dispatchers reflect on years of changes, upcoming upgrades

National Public Safety Communicators week is recognizing 911 dispatchers nationwide and in the Lowcountry, some longtime Dorchester County dispatchers are reflecting on the changes that have come over the years.

911 Telecommunicators -- The First of First Responders

It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Those who man 911 centers are the first of first responders, answering more than 240-million calls each year. The leader of Dunklin County 911 Emergency Services is Rachael Bowles. She said earlier this week her team chose a telecommunicator of the year – Mica Moore.
