India-Bangladesh Water Treaty: Bihar emerges as new hurdle ahead of Farakka pact renewal
The Farakka Water Treaty was signed between India and neighbouring Bangladesh on 12 December 1996. The agreement was concluded for a period of 30 years and is set to expire on 12 December this year. Ahead of its expiry, India and Bangladesh are expected to begin the process of renewing the treaty.
