Trump lifts US financial sanctions against Syria
US President Donald Trump officialised a remarkable pivot in US-Syria relations on Monday by enacting his promise to lift sanctions on the country which affected most state-run institutions including the central bank. The decision was a effort to "support the country's path to stability and peace", White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters.
