Braves Beat Pirates 6-3 Behind Dominic Smith’s 2-Run Homer
Raisel Iglesias earned his 13th save as Atlanta improved to 44-21 and won 18 of 21 series.
On Saturday, the Atlanta Braves defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-3, clinching a series win as designated hitter Dominic Smith's two-run homer powered a three-run fifth inning.
Atlanta led 3-0 after three innings before the Pirates closed the gap, but the Braves recovered in the fifth inning to regain control and secure the win.
Smith, hitting.309 with six homers and 28 RBIs, lined the go-ahead two-run shot in the fifth, while pitcher Spencer Strider allowed three runs over five innings and closer Raisel Iglesias earned his 13th save.
Manager Walt Weiss held out center fielder Michael Harris due to back tightness, while catcher Austin Wynns made his first start after being acquired Thursday from the Los Angeles Angels.
Following Sunday's series finale against the Pirates, the Braves travel to Chicago and New York to face the White Sox and Mets before returning to Truist Park on June 16.
