DNA match leads to arrest in 2015 sexual assault

- The assault occurred when a 23-year-old woman was walking alone and was allegedly pulled into a grassy or wooded area by the then-17-year-old suspect.
- The woman escaped the assault by kicking the suspect in the face with her boot, allowing her to flee.
- DNA evidence collected from the woman's boot in 2015 did not produce a match until December 2021, leading to the suspect's identification.
- The suspect, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he was a minor at the time of the offense, has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
