Star-Studded Lineup for Revamped U.S. Open Mixed Doubles
The revamped event includes a $1 million winners’ prize and new entry rules aimed at drawing more top singles players.
- Top-Ranked Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic headline the initial list of 16 teams entered into the U.S. Open Mixed Doubles Championship, announced Monday by the USTA.
- The tournament was overhauled last year with a $1 million prize to attract top singles talent, successfully drawing 78,000 fans to the grounds and selling out Arthur Ashe Stadium both days.
- Joining the field are Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud, Naomi Osaka and Kei Nishikori, and Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper. Eight teams will earn spots through wild cards and a qualifying tournament.
- Defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori return to compete, though the pair required a wild card due to their singles rankings being too low.
- Matches will be played Aug 24-26 at Arthur Ashe Stadium and Louis Armstrong Stadium. "Any time you can bring women and men together on the same team, you showcase tennis at its best," USTA CEO Craig Tiley said.
