Mayor Sharon Dijksma believes Utrecht University should have done more to protect its buildings from occupation. Her spokesperson confirmed this after a report from RTV Utrecht on Friday. In recent years, pro-Palestinian activists have occupied several university buildings in the city center.
During several occupations of Utrecht University buildings, protesters received assistance "from within," according to Mayor Sharon Dijksma. She adds that the university is not blameless. "They simply need to have their security in order."
