- On Tuesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks placed 39-year-old first baseman Carlos Santana on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain, retroactive to Monday.
- Santana sustained the injury during his lone plate appearance Sunday and was lifted for a pinch runner in the Diamondbacks' 6-5, 10-inning win.
- Manager Torey Lovullo expects Santana to miss more than the minimum 10 days. "We're not looking at 10 days. It's going to be a little bit longer than that," Lovullo said.
- To clear a 40-man roster spot for Baker, the team shifted outfielder Jordan Lawlar to the 60-day injured list as he recovers from a fractured right wrist.
- For first base duties, Manager Torey Lovullo is leaning toward veteran Ildemaro Vargas, who is off to a hot start with six hits in 11 at-bats and one home run.
