Makers Union, a D.C.-area gastropub chain, signed a lease for its first Richmond location in the Diamond District near CarMax Park.

The chain is owned by Reston-based Thompson Restaurants, which previously had a presence locally with a Short Pump location of its pizzeria concept, Matchbox before it closed in 2016. The company said the group had been looking to get back into the Richmond market since then.
