'Girl Critical, on Oxygen Support': AIIMS Delhi on Airlifted 15-Year-Old From Odisha After Miscreants Set Her on Fire
JAJPUR, ODISHA, JUL 20 – The girl was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi for specialized care after sustaining severe burn injuries, highlighting the hospital's role in critical trauma treatment.
- On Saturday, three motorcycle-borne youths intercepted the girl at Bhargavi River near Bayabar village, poured inflammable substance on her, and set her ablaze.
- With severe injuries, she was on oxygen support in the Burn Centre ICU at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, then transferred for specialised care.
- Authorities have recorded her statement in the ICU before a magistrate, and police have interrogated around 10 people, as part of the ongoing investigation.
- BJD leaders and supporters protested at Balanga police station, demanding immediate arrests, with Tukuni Sahu saying, "More than 24 hours have passed since the barbaric incident but the culprits have not yet been arrested."
- Arriving at AIIMS New Delhi at 4:20 pm on Sunday, she was transported by an advanced life support ambulance through a green corridor, where AIIMS Delhi doctors are closely monitoring her condition, said AIIMS Delhi.
