DAKSHINA KANNADA, KARNATAKA, AUG 7 – YouTubers and a reporter faced attacks amid tensions over allegations of mass rape and murder in Dharmasthala, with 100 bone fragments recovered, police said.
- On Wednesday, YouTubers Ajay Anchan, Abhishek, Vijay were allegedly attacked at Pangala near Dharmasthala, and reporter Harish was assaulted at Ujire hospital.
- Residents accused the YouTubers of spreading false and alleged defamatory reports about Dharmasthala's management, police sources said.
- Police registered two FIRs after four persons, including three YouTubers, were treated at Ujire hospital, with assailants damaging vehicles and cameras, police said.
- The Communist Party of India and the Democratic Youth Federation of India condemned the attacks, with a retired Supreme Court judge and activists demanding a court-monitored SIT probe.
- Seeking swift judicial intervention, the Dharmasthala Temple Institution petitioned the apex court for the scheduled hearing on Friday, August 8, 2025, before a bench headed by CJI B.R.
