The families of Leidy Rojas and Alexa Medina – girls who died after an armed army attack in Sinaloa in 2025 – as well as human rights organizations demanded that the Judiciary of the Federation (PJF) establish clear limits to military jurisdiction and prohibit military authorities from conducting investigations parallel to those of civil justice, in cases of serious violations of fundamental guarantees.
The Judiciary of the Federation will have on September 24 the possibility to establish new limits to the intervention of the military jurisdiction in investigations related to civilians and alleged serious violations of human rights, starting with the protection promoted by the families of the girls Leidy Rojas González and Alexa Medina Pérez, who died during an army operation in Sinaloa.
