CORALVILLE — An inmate at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville died at 2:50 p.m. on Friday.

Hunter 04/22/26 Two deaths have recently been reported at Iowa correctional facilities. 77-year-old Jess Ellsworth Whitselwas serving for crimes committed in Linn County. He died Friday evening at the Iowa State Penentiary. Whitsel’s sentence began on April 23, 1982.
