A 4-month-old baby from Saarburg (Moselle) died in the hospital of Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle) on 21 July. Her mother was released and placed under judicial supervision.


The father, born in 2000, and the mother of the infant had been charged with "volunteer violence resulting in infirmity on a minor of (under) 15 years of age per ascendant", "murder on a minor of (under) 15 years of age" and "subtraction from legal parental obligations" on 24 July and placed in custody.
On 21 July, a 4-month-old baby died at the Nancy-Brabois hospital where he had been heliported from the Sarrebourg where he lived. Suspected of being responsible for his death, his parents were charged and placed in pre-trial detention. According to the first evidence, the infant died from the shaken baby syndrome. He claimed that he was alien to any violence committed, and the mother challenged his placement.
