De Zerbi explains Savio absence as new Spurs signing misses Newcastle clash
On Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed new signing Savio missed the match against Newcastle due to a muscular issue, denying the £85m arrival his Premier League debut.
The club signed the Brazilian from Manchester City earlier this week, and he scored in his debut during the 5-goal Carabao Cup win over Charlton, making his sudden absence surprising.
De Zerbi told Sky Sports that medical staff advised against the risk, stating, "The medical staff didn't want to take a risk," after Savio suffered muscle fatigue.
Tottenham hopes to have the forward back for the trip to Nottingham Forest next weekend, while Omar Marmoush made his debut as one of 5 changes to the lineup.
Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti attended the match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while Richarlison also remained absent from the bench with his future at the club in question.
He had just debuted with the highest marks and a thirty-two-toned smile Savinho, on the occasion of the Carabao Cup match against the Charlton Athletic goal and assist, yet for today's Premier League match against Newcastle the Brazilian outside was forced to raise the white flag.
