Three U.S. Men Arrested in ISIS Support Plot, DOJ Says
Investigators say the men sent more than $2,000 and discussed drones and rocket-propelled grenades for attacks on U.S. service members.
- On Friday, FBI agents arrested three men—Bisaam Ghafoor of Leawood, Kansas; Elias Shamsaldeen of Porterville, California; and Bereen Dzayee of Lakeside, California—on charges they provided material support to ISIS.
- Since February 2025, the trio allegedly pledged allegiance to ISIS through Discord chats and social media, discussing cryptocurrency schemes to fund drones for attacking American military personnel overseas.
- Prosecutors allege the men collectively provided more than $2,000 to an undercover source they believed was an ISIS member, with Shamsaldeen sending nearly $1,600 around May 30, 2026, for drone purchases.
- Each defendant faces one count of conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization in U.S. District Court, District of Kansas. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the arrests dismantled their scheme.
- FBI Director Kash Patel credited the operation with stopping the plot before execution, stating, "These subjects allegedly swore allegiance to ISIS, plotted multiple attacks, and even targeted U.S. service members—but this FBI stopped them cold.
