Australian Cricket Great Warner Charged with Drink-Driving
Police said Warner returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.104, more than twice Australia’s legal limit, after a roadside test.
On Sunday, Australian cricket great David Warner was charged with drink driving after failing a random breath test in Maroubra, Sydney, where police allege the 39-year-old stopped his vehicle before reaching the testing site.
Officers arrested Warner and took him to Maroubra Police Station, where he returned a breath test result of 0.104; the cricketer faces court next month.
Warner, who retired from international cricket in 2024, captains the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League and competes in the Pakistan Super League T20.
During the recent season, Warner scored 433 runs in eight innings at a league-high average of 86.6 and recorded two centuries, including an unbeaten 110 against the Sixers in the Sydney Smash.
Contracted for BBL16, Warner will return next season at 40 years of age, having recently stated he has 'plenty more to give' to the team after a challenging year.
