- On June 12, English football icon David Beckham will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Sports Entertainment category, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday.
- The 51-year-old former England captain enjoyed a decorated career playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and LA Galaxy, making 115 appearances for England.
- Movie legend Tom Cruise and Victoria Beckham will attend the plaque unveiling on Hollywood Boulevard. Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said Beckham's role in "elevating football's profile in America" makes this honour "especially meaningful."
- The ceremony takes place hours before the first World Cup game on United States soil between the US and Paraguay in nearby Inglewood later that evening.
- Beyond his playing days, Beckham co-founded the production company Studio 99 in 2019 and co-owns Inter Miami, which won the Major League Soccer Cup Championship last year after signing Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.
