Former Orlen CEO and current PiS MEP, Daniel Obajtek, appeared before the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) on Thursday to investigate the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal from sale of an issue of the weekly "NIE" featuring an image of John Paul II on the cover. This is the second time the committee has considered a request to waive his immunity.
PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński defended Daniel Obajtek. "Once again, politicians from our party are being attacked for defending religious values and feelings. We will not bow!" he emphasized.
The European Parliament is considering a motion to waive the immunity of PiS MEP Daniel Obajtek. As CEO of Orlen, he withdrew an offensive issue of the Nie newspaper from sale.
