Phishing Attack in Birr: Expert Misses Transparency

The e-mail account of a manager of the power plant operator was hacked. Nothing unusual in itself – but was that all?

The operator of the reserve power plant in Birr, Aargau, has become the victim of a cyberattack. Via the compromised e-mail account of a manager, the attackers sent phishing messages to business partners. It is one of the first reportable cyberattacks in Switzerland.

An email account belonging to Prismecs, which operates the Birr temporary reserve power plant (AG), was hacked. The power plant's computers were not affected, however. Energy Minister Albert Rösti has been informed.
