The Curl project is still struggling with false error messages that generate AI systems. The developer team is now even thinking openly about setting up the bug bounty program. Again and again resourceful people submit bug reports that they have obviously created using a fantasizing AI. Curl developers have to look at these reports time-consumingly and then sort them out as nonsense.
The open source tool cURL is considering stopping its bug bounty program due to a surge in false vulnerability reports generated by AI, which seriously wastes review time. Since 2019, 81 vulnerabilities have been rewarded with $90,000, but the spam reports have overwhelmed the team. The person in charge, Daniel, is faced with the dilemma of continuing or canceling.
