Culture and tourism sectors thrive in Xiamen

Driven by high-level opening-up, Xiamen pursued trade, culture, and tourism growth during the 14th Five-Year Plan, with Lin Zhicheng stating `Amid uncertainties in the external environment, we have consolidated and enhanced the international circulation and boosted the driving force of domestic circulation` during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival.
Xiamen's transport upgrades, including Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport serving 45 million passengers and port expansions adding 6 berths, boost connectivity, said Li Zongze.
Economic indicators show rising consumption and large-scale investment as Xiamen received 128 million tourist visits generating 191.1 billion yuan, with retail sales rising from 245.78 billion yuan to 332.98 billion yuan.
With awards hosting and new programs, Xiamen aims to upgrade its tourism model, supported by 2.31 million overnight inbound tourists in 2024, Cui Yonghui said.
