Cuban forces killed four and wounded six on a Florida-registered speedboat carrying armed anti-government Cubans attempting infiltration, Cuban Interior Ministry said.
- On Wednesday morning, the Cuban Ministry of the Interior said four people were killed and six were injured and detained aboard the vessel about 1 nautical mile northeast of the El Pino channel in Cayo Falcones, Villa Clara province.
- The Cuban Ministry said the 10 aboard were `Cuban residents of the United States`, armed for `terrorist purposes`, with many having criminal histories and an additional detainee `sent from the United States` arrested.
- Border Guard troops approached the vessel for identification, those on board opened fire, injuring the commander of the Cuban vessel, and authorities seized assault rifles, handguns, Molotov cocktails, bulletproof vests, telescopic sights and camouflage uniforms.
- Florida politicians demanded answers, with Rep. Carlos Gimenez saying `United States authorities must determine whether any of the victims were U.S. citizens or legal residents and establish exactly what occurred.`
- U.S. officials say they lack specifics while diplomats at the U.S. embassy in Havana work to access those on the vessel, and Vice President JD Vance says Secretary of State Marco Rubio briefed him.
