Investigation Found 27 Cruise Ship Workers, Including From Disney, Engaged with Child Pornography, CBP Says

CBP said 27 of 28 crew members interviewed were involved in child sexual exploitation material, and their visas were canceled.

  • On Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that 27 cruise ship workers, including some from Disney Cruise Line, were deported after an investigation into child sexual exploitation material, or CSEM.
  • CBP officers boarded 8 cruise ships in San Diego between April 23 and 27, finding 27 of the 28 interviewed crew members involved in the receipt, possession, or distribution of CSEM.
  • Disney Cruise Line and Holland America confirmed cooperation with law enforcement, each stating they maintain a "zero-tolerance policy" and that involved crew members were terminated.
  • Visas for the 27 crew members were canceled prior to deportation; 26 individuals are from the Philippines, one from Portugal, and one from Indonesia.
  • Citing state law prohibiting participation in immigration enforcement, the Port of San Diego Harbor Police confirmed they were not involved, while the FBI referred prosecution questions to CBP.
