The water from the public water supply in the Lika-Senj County and the islands of Pag and Rab is safe for drinking, and PFAS compounds have not been detected in measurable concentrations in any of the samples, the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ) reported on Tuesday.

By decision of the Expert Committee for Water Intended for Human Consumption of August 11, 2026, the Croatian Institute of Public Health, in cooperation with the county public health institutes, conducts weekly sampling and analysis of water from the public water supply system and twice monthly analyses of raw water from the pumping station. A total of 150 water samples have been analyzed so far. The results confirm the health safety of the water distributed by the public supplier.
