The 25th Tokyo Summer Deaflympics, an international sporting event for deaf and hard of hearing people, held its women's basketball preliminary league at the Ota Ward General Gymnasium in Tokyo on the 18th. Japan, in Group B, started off with a win, defeating Ukraine 80-62. Toyosato Rin (Yomitan High School - Kyushu Sangyo University, 4th year student) played in the 4th quarter.
