CPKC Sets New Grain Handling Record for September and Third Quarter
CPKC said stronger early crop-year volumes and operating improvements helped drive records that topped 2020 marks.
On Friday, October 02, 2026, Canadian Pacific Kansas City announced it set new September and third-quarter records for grain shipments across Canada and the United States, surpassing marks originally set in 2020.
The railway achieved these milestones during the second month of the 2026-2027 crop year, following the July 31, 2026, release of its Grain Service Outlook Report outlining service commitments.
In Canada, the company moved 2.94 million metric tonnes of grain in September, totaling 30,324 carloads during the record-setting month.
U.S. operations moved 2.51 million metric tonnes and 26,236 carloads during the same period. "These new records reflect the collective effort of CPKC railroaders," said Elizabeth Hucker, CPKC Vice President, Sales & Marketing Bulk.
With approximately 20,000 railroaders across its network, the Calgary-based company connects North American customers from Vancouver to the Gulf Coast.
