Sofia Coppola Was Thinking Pink for Les Arts Décoratifs Ball
- Le Bal d’Été, a black-tie summer ball art-directed by Sofia Coppola, took place Sunday evening at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris with around 300 guests.
- The event was held to generate financial support for the exhibition celebrating a century of Art Deco, set to debut on October 22, with Jean-Victor Meyers playing a key role alongside Coppola in organizing the ball.
- Guests, including Kirsten Dunst, Penélope Cruz, Pat McGrath, and Keira Knightley, enjoyed a decor inspired by Coppola’s 2006 film Marie Antoinette and floral designs by Thierry Boutemy, while opera singer Pretty Yende performed and Phoenix provided after-party music.
- The ball raised an estimated $2.8 million, with McGrath commenting, “Why don’t we do this more often?,” and museum president Lionel Sauvage called it its 'first real family ball' defined by friendship and fun.
- The funds support MAD’s centennial exhibition and suggest plans to stage Le Bal d’Été biennially as a celebration of Parisian art, fashion, and culture beyond traditional fundraising.
