The New Nigeria People’s Party National Working Committee dissolved Kano executives and will install caretakers amid leadership disputes and a court suspension of the state chairman.
- On Friday, a Kano State High Court suspended Hashimu Suleiman-Dungurawa as NNPP Kano State chairman and restrained him from parading as chairman pending suit determination.
- Mr Shuaibu Hassan and nine Gargari Ward members filed an ex parte motion through counsel asking the court to uphold the December 30, 2025 suspension endorsed by 27 executive members, alleging he denigrated Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf and failed to pay dues.
- The NNPP National Working Committee dissolved state, local government and ward executives in Kano and resolved to appoint caretaker committees under the party constitution after an emergency meeting in Abuja on December 31, 2025, NNPP National Publicity Secretary Ladipo Johnson said.
- It is hereby ordered that the December 30, 2025 suspension be maintained pending hearing and the applicants serve process on respondents Suleiman-Dungurawa and the New Nigerian People's Party.
- The development comes amid a lingering internal crisis in NNPP Kano State, with the NWC commending officials, urging members to remain calm, and promising further instructions in due course.
