- Sowore, through lawyer Raphael Adakole, requested the defense phase be postponed until after the court's two-month annual vacation, citing lead counsel Olumide Fusika's absence from the country to attend family matters.
- Opposing the request, Department of State Services counsel Akinlolu Kehinde noted the trial had already suffered 10 adjournments at Sowore's instance, characterizing the application as a ploy to frustrate proceedings.
- Justice Umar denied the long adjournment to align with Administration of Criminal Justice Act provisions for accelerated trials, ordering the trial to resume on July 16, 2026, for defense continuation.
- Abuja-Based lawyer Deji Adeyanju, Sowore's first witness, testified that Tinubu stated citizens have the right to criticize him; however, Adeyanju admitted under cross-examination the President never opposed the law taking its course.
