County Durham couple in 'toxic' relationship escape jail for pet cruelty

Durham Crown Court heard that the RSPCA began an inquiry into the suspected ill-treatment of a badly injured lurcher dog. One of the dogs was sadistically killed by one or both of the defendants, a chicken and a Shetland pony.
