Head of the PUPR Office of North Sumatra, Topan Obaja Putra Ginting (Topan Ginting) was named a suspect in a bribery case for a road construction project. Topan is suspected of getting a share of Rp8 billion because he was involved in efforts to win the winning company for the auction.
Police arrested the suspects after they shot and threatened a business owner for months, with gang leaders among those arrested. They tried to get him to pay protection money worth hundreds of thousands of shekels from his profits, and when he refused, they caused damage. Their detention has been extended until the end of the week
The five suspects were arrested in a sting operation (OTT) on Thursday (26/6) evening on suspicion of corruption in an effort to smooth the project with a total value of IDR 231.8 billion.
