‘They Wanted to Shock My Parents’: Dipke Accuses Delhi Police of ‘Mental Torture’, Reveals 3.30 Am Ordeal
Dipke said police denied him phone and lawyer access while in custody, after officers informed him of his grandmother’s death and offered help, police said.
On Sunday, Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke accused Delhi Police of denying him phone and lawyer access during detention, disputing a police video claiming they offered assistance after informing him of his grandmother's death.
Police detained Dipke and two colleagues from an aircraft on Saturday, blocking their planned Jantar Mantar protest, the same day his grandmother died at age 85 in Maharashtra.
Dipke alleged police denied his request to call his cousin for "just a couple of minutes" and pressured him at 3:30 a.m. to warn his father of jail time, claiming the released video contains "deleted parts."
CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh confirmed the trio's release on Sunday following their appearance before a magistrate in Delhi Cantt, with conditions barring them from activities breaching peace for one year.
Despite the preventive arrest, CJP and SFI leaders refuse to abandon their Jantar Mantar 2.0 agitation, maintaining they will "keep fighting" against restrictions and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
