Construction work finally begins on new South London leisure centre

The project to give Kingston a leisure centre again has been plagued by major delays

Construction has started on Kingston’s new community leisure centre.

Replacing the old Kingfisher Leisure centre, works started on the site yesterday, with piling for the foundations set to begin soon. The centre will feature a 25m 8 lane pool, teaching pool, gym, studios, sports hall, squash courts, health suite. It will also host a soft play area, café, and improved outdoor spaces linking to Kingston Museum and Library. The project is scheduled to open in spring 2027.
