Constitution requires state to address climate change

MONTANA, JUL 2 – The ruling requires Montana to consider greenhouse gas emissions in fossil fuel project reviews, affirming citizens’ constitutional right to a stable climate system for current and future generations.

The Montana Supreme Court’s recent decision in Held v. Montana, the youth climate change case, is momentous but ultimately appropriately limited in scope.
