Conservatives Win in Langley-Willowbrook - The Northern View
Toor won more than 50% of the vote as the BC Conservatives secured a majority government and Mercier conceded in Langley City.
On Saturday, BC Conservative incumbent Jody Toor retained her Langley-Willowbrook seat as her party secured enough seats to form a majority government. Toor defeated former NDP incumbent Andrew Mercier, who held the riding from 2020 to 2024.
While the 2024 race between the two was decided by only a few hundred votes, Toor established an early lead this time and secured over 50 per cent of the vote. The contrast marks a decisive shift in the constituency.
Toor received 9,851 votes compared to Mercier's 6,735 votes. Anisha Sandhu of the BC Green Party took 7.83 per cent, while Subham Joshi of OneBC garnered 3.68 per cent of the vote.
Calling the victory "overwhelming," Toor stated her priority is implementing the Car 67 mental health policing program. She emphasized focusing on "public safety, our hospital, our seniors" in the community.
From a gathering in Langley City, Andrew Mercier congratulated Toor on her victory. Mercier said he would stay involved in the community, stating, "I love this community, I was raised here, this is where Im raising my kids.
