Far Right Influencer Jake Lang Arrested for Vandalizing Sculpture on Minnesota Capitol Steps
On February 5, 2026, an ice sculpture reading "Prosecute ICE" was destroyed outside the Minnesota State Capitol, and Jake Lang was arrested near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and University Avenue.
Common Defense members and community leaders installed the frozen-letter display to protest federal immigration operations and called for accountability in the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
Video posted to social media shows Jake Lang appearing to kick over several frozen letters, leaving the sculpture reading "PRO ICE" after the five letters shattered, and Capitol security dispatchers observed damage at 2:30 p.m.
In response, Common Defense urged prosecution after Jake Lang claimed he caused $6,000 in damage, and Jacob Thomas called for Lang to be prosecuted.
Ahead of a planned Saturday rally, Jake Lang, a pardoned Jan. 6 rioter who served four years, plans to hold an unpermitted event amid opposition from protesters, officials say.
