‘National Icon’: Kolisi to Perform Mentoring Role at Stormers

Kolisi will rejoin the Stormers to play and mentor younger players, supporting Project 2029 as he builds squad depth and stays close to his family, the club said.

  • On Dec 23, 2025, Stormers Rugby confirmed Siya Kolisi will return to the Stormers in 2026 and welcomed the two-time World Cup-winning Springbok captain at season's end.
  • Kolisi said the move allows him to be closer to his family and return to Stormers Rugby, adding, `I have such incredible memories of my time at the Stormers...`
  • A two-time World Cup-winning captain, Kolisi led South Africa to titles in 2019 and 2023, playing 103 Tests and captaining the Springboks 71 times.
  • Stormers officials said Kolisi will mentor young leaders, as John Dobson noted, `We have got an outstanding crop of loose forwards in our squad and a number of very strong young leaders, with the last three Junior Springbok captains all on our books.`
  • Kolisi's return positions him to add to his 118 Stormers caps and follows earlier this week's long-term signing of flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, reinforcing the Stormers Rugby Project.
