Fazer believes that the government will have to cancel its planned candy tax. Until that happens, the company's giant investment is frozen. The threat is that a nearly billion dollar chocolate factory will be built in Sweden instead of Lahti.
Helsingin Sanomat reports that Fazer is considering the construction of a plant planned for Finland in Sweden. Fazer may export the giant chocolate factory planned for Lahti to Sweden if the increase in the confectionery tax is not canceled, Helsingin Sanomat reported.
