Former Decatur County sheriff and funeral director Peter J. Bruton, Sr., passed away on June 18. His funeral was held Thursday. According to his obituary, Bruton was born on July 20, 1955, in Bainbridge, to the late Margaret Ann Emmonds Bruton and Cleveland Bernard Bruton, Sr. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1973.
