In Berlin, Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer will be honoured with a memorial ceremony. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will give a commemorative speech at the celebration in the Berlin Philharmonic.
Friedländer died in May at the age of 103. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday evening at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall.
After the death of Margot Friedländer, it is unclear how the city of Berlin intends to permanently commemorate the Holocaust survivors and honorary citizen. Proposals for the renaming of streets and squares are available, but concrete decisions are pending.
