Comer to seek interviews with Todd Blanche, Alan Dershowitz in Epstein probe
The committee wants him to explain the Justice Department’s release of more than 3 million Epstein pages and what records may still be missing.
- On Wednesday, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer announced efforts to bring Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche before the panel next month to answer questions regarding the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, while also seeking testimony from Alan Dershowitz.
- The committee’s interest in Blanche follows former Attorney General Pam Bondi’s recent testimony, where she claimed she "delegated oversight" of the Epstein document release to him, noting she "repeatedly shifted responsibility" to the deputy attorney general.
- Comer also intends to question Dershowitz regarding matters arising from Lesley Groff’s testimony on Tuesday and statements from Epstein survivors. Groff, a longtime associate of Epstein, appeared before lawmakers earlier this week to provide details regarding the case.
- Nominated last week by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Justice, Blanche faces a high-stakes confirmation battle. The Senate Judiciary Committee remains split 12-10, meaning Blanche requires full Republican support to advance his nomination.
- To date, the Oversight Committee has interviewed more than a dozen individuals behind closed doors to examine the Justice Department's handling, specifically questioning "what, if any, documents are left out there" regarding the Epstein case.
